Karma Meditation — Planting Seeds to Change Your Life

- Get into a comfortable position, then hold your body there, still.
- Focus on your breath for a few moments, watching the air flow out and in.
- Now, think of something that you want in your life that you don’t have now. It could be anything—a new job, or promotion, a girlfriend or boyfriend, more money.
- Think of all the usual ways people try and get the things they want—a good resume, a new diet, a surefire investment. Do they work? Sometimes, for some people. That means they are not the actual cause. Think of all the ways you’ve tried to get this thing that haven’t worked for you in the past.
- Now reflect on why it hasn’t worked; remind yourself of how everything is a projection, and how we have to create the right mental imprints in order to get the things we want.
- Think again about what you want to see projected in your life, and now figure out the real cause to get that thing: what imprints do I have to plant to see myself get it? This is pretty easy to figure out—it always has to do with helping others. If you want a nice job, help others find one. If you want a good partner, honor others’ relationships. If you want more money, be generous to others.
- Imagine yourself doing what you need to get the thing you want.
- Then see the mind at work, recording what you have just done—watch yourself plant a mental imprint.
- Now look into the future, and imagine how it will be when you are forced to see yourself get what you want.
